Women of Excellence

Considered the most prestigious award for Nova Scotian women in business, Michelle Kempton was honored as a Women of Excellence for the area of Health, Sport & Wellness.

The nomination committee received a record number of nomination packages in 2013 and 3 amazing women were selected as the leaders in the area of Health, Sport & Wellness - using these categories of measurement:

1) profession/career
2) community
3) personal achievements

Michelle Kempton was chosen for her amazing individual story of success and determination in the area of running and transforming her life and inspiring others.

The Women of Excellence award is an annual fundraising event - this year in one evening, the gala raised $55,000 for Phoenix Youth programs.  On November 6, 2014, Michelle Kempton was recognized in front of a crowd of 600 with 2 other amazing women - three-time Olympian and two-time World champion, Karen Furneaux along with writer, author and self-defense instructor Joan Helson.  All 3 women varied greatly in experienced, but were considered equally impressive in their personal achievements in business and community.

The event was a time to celebrate women’s accomplishments, gather together a cadre of women leaders and further inspire community engagement, strengthening the fabric of our province.
